The need to comply with smoking laws

Bangladesh has a law, Smoking and Use of Tobacco Products (Control) Act 2005. Section 4 sub-section 1 of this Act clearly states that no person shall smoke in any public place and public transport, i.e. smoking in open places is prohibited.

If this law is broken for the first time, there is a maximum penalty of 300 rupees. If the same offense is committed a second time or repeatedly, the fine will be doubled. But we have never seen the application of this law. Especially walking on the sidewalks of Dhaka is the most unpleasant situation. Cigarette smoke and smell are embarrassing. They never think that by smoking in public places like this, they cause trouble to others; Along with their own health, they play a vital role in endangering the health of everyone around them.

Most of these people who smoke in public places do not know that there is a punishment system for the crime they are committing in the existing laws of the country. The new government has already started taking a stand against the use of polythene and honking. Hope they will follow the same path against smoking in public places and transport. We want to live healthy in new Bangladesh.
